A fresh look!

If I am to trust the statistics, this site doesn't have many recurring visitors, but for those who are: you might have noticed a change in looks (thanks to site5 for the Colorbold theme). This blog moved from Lifetype to WordPress today, and should be ready for the future now! On top of that, there now is an official Linux Tutorial Blog Twitter account, which you can follow to stay up to date and tweet your opinion on what should be coming up. Did I just say coming up? Yes indeed, I'm going to try once more to actually write new tutorials =)! I already have a few ideas in mind, now I just have to find the time to turn them into actual posts. Let's hope my study will allow me to take that time. Anyway, happy reading, and let me know what you think of the new looks!

Linux Tutorial Blog is no longer frozen!

Author rechosen    Category News     Tags frozen

Whether this was caused by global warming or by the many visitors that kept on coming during the time Linux Tutorial Blog was frozen we'll never know, but this blog is melting. Featuring a new tutorial and some upcoming changes, LTB is once more a place to keep watching, a "regular Linux tutorial source". I hope you will enjoy this new breeze of activity! read more

Linux tutorial blog is no longer frozen!

Well, I don't like to bring this message, but I guess I have to. I simply do not have the time to keep this blog updated anymore. You probably already expected something like that, seeing that there haven't been any posts for over two months... Anyway, the site will stay online so the knowledge that's already on it will not be lost, and all revenue will still be donated to the good cause. Maybe I will find the time to write in a vacation somewhere, but I'm not sure. Thanks to all the readers for their comments and support, thanks to Youmakemusic.com for hosting this website, and thanks to God for blessing me so much, both on this site and for the rest of my life. Goodbye, and maybe 'till the next post.

All seems to be working again, so I consider the upgrade to the new Lifetype version finished. If you stumble upon something that doesn't seem to work as it should, please leave a comment on this post.

Big upgrade coming up!

Author rechosen    Category News     Tags Lifetype, upgrade

In a few moments, I'll start moving to the newest stable version of Lifetype. This will probably screw some things up, so please be patient. I hope to finish soon. I'll post a success message when everything seems to be working again.

Edit: The blog is up again and the basic things seem to be working. I lost my .htaccess files, though... Currently busy getting permissions back to their old state.

Get a text link on this site by donating as little as $10!

Well, this offer has now been suspended, as the trip to Africa was already made. It was good, impressive and fun. It made me realize that those slums really are there, which was quite a hard feeling, but at the same time, it was great to be able to help the local people a bit, and to support the organization (Victory4All) that is active in the slums we went to. I thank God for the experiences I had, and I hope that many more people will leave their comfort zone and reach out for people living in such circumstances. God bless those who already do.

First of all: the money will not go to me, but to a trip to Africa this summer where 21 young people (including me) will help building a school, give the poor children over there some great days and repair houses in the slums. You can find more details on this project in the full version of the post.

About the text links: if you donate as little as $10 to the project, you will get a text link to the specified website in the Text Links column on the left (read more about it in the full version of the post). Of course, you're allowed to donate more =), but you will only get a single text link. If you want two text links, donate $10 or more two times. Payment is done using Paypal. Note: I will not accept every text link. Don't even try getting a link to a site containing things like gambling or adult content. If I don't think the specified website suitable to link to, I will decline the payment.

You can also just donate, without receiving a text link. To do that, simply don't specify an URL in the description box (you may fill in a message, like "Good luck on your trip!" or something like that). read more

Work in Progress!

Author rechosen    Category News     Tags progress, writing

I am currently working on a tutorial full of useful bash tricks. However, little time and much tutorialwriting don't go together that well =). You will probably have to wait for the tutorial a few days. In the meanwhile, please comment on what tutorial you'd want me to write after that bash tutorial. I am pretty much out of tutorial subjects, and I would like to know what you would like to see on this site. Thanks in advance, and remember that you can subscribe to the RSS feed (see the bottom of the right menu bar) if you want to keep up with the new postings on this site.

We’re up!

Author rechosen    Category News     Tags new, up, welcome

Hello and welcome to this brand new blog! We moved from our development area to the main server today, and if you're reading this, everything went well =). The first tutorial is already up, feel free to have a look at it. Comments are welcome, both on my English and the tutorial (have a little patience with me, English is my second language). Well, thanks for the visit and for reading this news post. Please help us to promote this site a little so more and more people will be able to benefit from the growing amount of knowledge that'll be available on this site. Happy reading!
